ESC Long-Term Volunteering in Hungary: Kindergarten, STEM & Media

Popis

We are looking for responsible, motivated and proactive volunteers who genuinely want to work with children and contribute to educational, creative and community activities.

This project is not for people who are only looking for a travel opportunity or free time. We expect active participation, initiative, teamwork and a serious commitment throughout the project.

We are specifically looking for:

• 2 volunteers with qualifications or relevant experience in kindergarten, daycare or early childhood education
• 1 highly experienced volunteer in robotics/STEM activities
• 1 highly experienced volunteer in video editing, filmmaking and social media content creation, with previous experience working with children

Relevant experience includes:

• Kindergarten or daycare work
• Early childhood education
• Working with children
• Robotics, STEM or programming
• Video editing
• Filmmaking
• Social media content creation
• Photography or digital content production

Main responsibilities:

• Supporting children in kindergarten/daycare activities
• Organising and supporting educational and creative activities
• Supporting robotics and STEM activities
• Creating and editing videos and social media content
• Documenting activities, events and projects
• Preparing creative and interactive content for children and the organisation
• Supporting community and educational programmes
• Working together with staff and other volunteers
• Contributing your own ideas and skills to the project
• Helping with events and other activities when needed

Important Requirements

Please apply only if you have relevant experience in the position you are applying for.

Applicants for the kindergarten/daycare positions must have relevant qualifications or previous experience working with young children.

Applicants for the Robotics/STEM position must have strong practical experience in robotics, STEM, programming or related fields.

Applicants for the Video Editing/Filmmaking/Social Media position must have strong previous experience in video editing, filmmaking or social media content creation and experience working with children.

A portfolio is required for the Video Editing/Filmmaking/Social Media position. Please include a link to your portfolio or previous work with your application.

Applications from candidates who do not have relevant experience in the required field will be automatically rejected.

Ubytování, stravování, doprava

The volunteers will be accommodated in rented houses and rooms provided by the host organisation in Kállósemjén. Volunteers will stay in single or double rooms. The accommodation facilities include a shared kitchen, bathroom, garden and free Wi-Fi. Depending on the assigned accommodation, the bathroom will be shared by several volunteers and can be locked to ensure privacy.

Volunteers will receive a daily allowance of EUR 15, covering both food allowance and pocket money. The allowance will be paid in cash. As the accommodation facilities have equipped kitchens, volunteers will be able to prepare their own meals.

Travel costs will be covered from the European Solidarity Corps project budget in accordance with the applicable distance band. Volunteers arriving at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport will travel to Kállósemjén by public transport. The host organisation will provide detailed travel instructions and assistance with planning the journey. Visa-related costs, where applicable, will also be covered by the project budget. 

Odborná příprava během činnosti

The volunteers will develop their skills mainly through practical, non-formal learning during their daily activities. They will gain experience in working with disadvantaged children and in planning and organising sports activities, handicrafts, board games, cooking workshops, cultural events, environmental activities, excursions and bicycle tours. This practice-based learning will help them improve their teamwork, communication, creativity, intercultural competence and activity-management skills.

Profil účastníka

We are looking for responsible, motivated and proactive volunteers who are genuinely interested in working with children and contributing to educational, community-based, creative and digital activities.

This opportunity is intended for participants who are ready to take an active role in the project. It is not suitable for applicants who are mainly interested in travelling or having free time. We expect initiative, regular participation, reliability and a serious commitment throughout the entire volunteering period.

Minimum Requirements (Please Read Before Applying)

Applications that do not meet the requirements for at least one of the available positions will not be considered.

To be eligible, you must have relevant experience or qualifications for one of the following positions:

• Kindergarten / Daycare: Qualifications, studies or proven experience in kindergarten, nursery, daycare, early childhood education, pedagogy, or working with young children.
• Robotics / STEM: Strong practical experience in robotics, STEM, programming or related technical activities. This position is intended for participants with significant previous experience.
• Video Editing / Filmmaking / Social Media: Strong previous experience in video editing, filmmaking, social media content creation or related digital media, as well as previous experience working with children. A portfolio or examples of previous work are required.

Please do not apply if:

• You have no relevant experience or qualifications for the position you are applying for.
• You have no experience working with children.
• You are applying mainly to travel or spend time abroad.
• You are not comfortable working with children and actively participating in project activities.
• You are not ready to make a serious commitment for the full volunteering period.

Main responsibilities

Volunteers will be expected to:

• support and participate in activities for children
• support educational and community programmes
• create engaging, creative and interactive sessions
• support kindergarten/daycare activities where relevant
• contribute to robotics/STEM activities where relevant
• create and edit video and social media content where relevant
• cooperate actively with local staff, volunteers and community members
• contribute ideas and take initiative in the preparation and implementation of activities

We are looking for applicants who are:

• reliable and emotionally mature
• comfortable and confident when working with children
• team-oriented and communicative
• creative, flexible and able to work independently
• open to intercultural learning
• willing to use their existing skills and experience
• prepared to make a serious commitment for the full duration of the project
