The Youth Department of the City of Murcia is a Municipal Service, with the main purpose of responding to the actual needs of the youth from the Municipality of Murcia. Among his actions:
Promoting the participation of youth in all socio-cultural fields of their environment and the municipality.
Encouraging the development of programs and activities to raise awareness of tolerance, solidarity and participation in public life.
Encouraging, promoting and giving a boost to the cultural and artistic concerns of young people from Murcia.
Making the education more dynamic and promoting the integral development of students.
Providing information and materials and advices to young people on their topics of interest
Promoting the knowledge and bringing young people to European reality. Promoting dialogue, mutual tolerance, awareness and solidarity beyond the borders of the European Union to combat prejudice and stereotypes, and build societies based on mutual respect and understanding.
Promoting the European mobility.
Working since 25 years in Youth European Program with Europe, Mediterranean and Latin American Countries.
Sending and hosting organization: Erasmus Practice, Grundtvig and Leonardo da Vinci,
EVS and Youth Exchange, Erasmus+,European Solidarity Corps, Europe Creative and Europa and Citizens.
We are an organization active in international networks and platforms of European youth work: Platform Network, Biennale des jeunes créateurs de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée , Eurodesk and Eurocities,
For this purpose the youth services department has 35 employees, a Youth Information Centre and 50 youth spaces. The target population are young citizens of the municipality of Murcia from 12 to 30 years old. The youth participates in activities that many of them also develop and plan and manage directly. They are young people who co-ordinate the Youth Information Points which connected to the Information Centre carry out information activities in schools and youth associations. These young people also co-ordinate and plan activities at the youth spaces. Particular emphases on promoting the initiative and entrepreneurial skills of youth through counselling, mentoring and specific financial contribution.
The youth workers have training in social education, social communication, European and international programs, international cooperation, intercultural training and management of international projects. They are trainers in intercultural courses, international mobility, mobility for employment, management of international projects for youth.
Our group leaders of youth exchanges and TC, are all trained at a national and international level and will collaborate with the coordinating organization during all the project stages in order to meet the project objectives.
We organized 22 Language Clubs, in which 500 young people from 12 to 18 years of age participate in English, French and German as a response to the demand of young people from our municipality and to follow the guidelines set by the Union regarding linguistic diversity. The Language Club is a free service that allows young people to practice a foreign language through conversation. Young Europeans from the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus Practices programs collaborate with them.
