The German Red Cross is the national society of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in the federal republic of Germany. With 191 national societies the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian organisation in the world. The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of this global community, having provided comprehensive aid for more than 150 years for people in conflict situations, disasters and health or social emergency situations, solely based on their level of need. Under the banner of humanity, the GRC campaigns for life, health, welfare, protection, peaceful coexistence and the dignity of all human beings. Approximately four million members are active in Germany alone. The GRC, in its capacity as the National Red Cross Society and the umbrella organisation of the free welfare care system, is committed to the seven principles of the Red Cross; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, the voluntary basis, unity and universality. In its capacity as the National Society and humanitarian organisation the GRC observes extensive national tasks. These include the following; rescue services and first aid, health services (including a blood donation service), aid for the elderly (including care and a visiting service), aid for children, young people and families, a tracking service and the Youth Red Cross. The GRC is also operational worldwide in the field of humanitarian aid - both in acute emergency situations (disaster relief) and in long-term development cooperation projects. The German Red Cross has a federal structure. It consists of the federal organisation (GRC National Headquarters) and its member societies (19 state societies and the nursing association) and their respective member societies (almost 500 branch societies, 32 nursing associations and more than 4.500 local societies).
The DRK Landesverband Sachsen-Anhalt is the GRC’s regional association of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt. The GRCs regional association of Saxony-Anhalt provides a variety of services and is composed of different departments. The department responsible for volunteer services is one of the states’ largest operating authorities in welfare for national volunteer services. Due to its over 20 years long lasting history of professional expertise and growth, the department provides and coordinates volunteer services for almost 650 people per year all over the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Along the national volunteer services throughout programs like the FSJ or BFD, the department’s goal was always to promote international volunteer services too. Hence, the department of volunteer services has seeked to realize several international projects and cooperations. In early projects from 2007-2010 (“volunteering makes you strong!”; “Amicus”) the department could welcome several volunteers from all over the world. These encounters had a great impact and led to new co-operations and permanent incoming-projects lasting up until now. Since 2014 the GRC’s department of volunteers services in Saxony- Anhalt is fully accredited in the ESC- Program. Thus the department was able to perform both as a hosting- and sending organisation. Regarding ESC’s incoming-projects the department coordinated placements in the following hosting-Organisations in Halle over the past years : “international kindergarten Herweghstr.”, “After-School-Care Center August- Hermann-Francke", the kindergarten "August-Hermann-Francke", GRC After School Care-Center "Bunte Welt", GRC After School Care-Center "Abenteuerland" as well as the “Evangelische Stiftung Neinstedt” (foundation for social services). These projects were realized based on a strong partnership with the British Red Cross as sending-organisation. Since 2020 we intensified the outgoing ESC-projects und were able to develop successful cooperations with for instance the French Red Cross, the Austrian Red Cross as well as “La maison européene” in le Mans (France).
The GRC’s department for volunteer services in Saxony- Anhalt would like to continue its existing projects and extend its portfolio of cooperations in the next ESC cycle 2021-2027. Our aim is to give young european volunteers the chance to experience social- and welfare commitment and develop new personal and professional skills while broadening their mind abroad. Driven by the idea of humanity and inclusion the GRC’s department of volunteer services is determined to reach out to every young adult in Saxony- Anhalt. No matter of psychological or physical disability, religious belief or financial background should hinder someone from an international volunteer service in the European Union.

Profile, Motivation and Experience
Ten organizations formed an alliance of interests in December 1995. The Auslandsgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. (AGSA) has grown to 46 member organizations, which are active in the following fields: development education work for an ecologically and socially acceptable sustainable development in the One World - promotion of understanding between people of different cultural, religious - support and advice for migrants, as well as political lobbying in the areas of protection of refugees, refugee rights protection of refugees, immigration and integration.
AGSA has been the operating association for the einewelt haus Magdeburg since May 1996. The offices of associations and migrant organizations, as well as five event rooms are located under its roof. The AGSA coordinates the annual events held in the einewelt haus. 1200 events of approx. 80 cooperation partners take place in the einewelt haus every year. Intercultural encounters, project days with students, film events, discussions, exhibitions of international art, language courses, seminars and meetings of and club meetings make the house a place of lively togetherness with nationwide appeal.
Since 1996, AGSA e.V. has been organizing the annual Eurocamp in Saxony-Anhalt with up to 50 young people from over 20 European countries. The AGSA promotes international and national voluntary services. Within the framework of the European Voluntary Service, it has been sending young people to various projects in Europe since 2005. European young people in its own host projects, and coordinates and supports the deployment of volunteers with our project partners. The AGSA is committed to the cooperation and networking of international youth - and voluntary service in Saxony-Anhalt and Europe. In addition, within the framework of these projects, it conducts various seminars and trainings for international youth education and project development. The AGSA combines competence, experience and methodological diversity at the interface between full-time work and volunteering, civil society and administration, in youth and adult education.

Support the work areas of the full-time AGSA office:
- the activities of the members and their public relations work
- the European-political, intercultural and international offers in the youth and adult education
- intercultural opening in public administration, in labor market structures and in civil society
- local and regional campaigns such as Intercultural Week, Europe Week and International Weeks against racism
- the target group-oriented preparation and dissemination of information and advice
The AGSA signed the Diversity Charter.

Das Deutsche Rote Kreuz ist die Nationale Gesellschaft des Roten Kreuzes auf dem Gebiet der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und Bestandteil der Internationalen Rotkreuz- und Rothalbmondbewegung. Mit 191 nationalen Gesellschaften ist die Internationale Rotkreuz- und Rothalbmondbewegung die größte humanitäre Hilfsorganisation der Welt. Das Deutsche Rote Kreuz (DRK) ist Teil der weltweiten Gemeinschaft und sorgte für umfassende Hilfe seit mehr als 150 Jahren in Fällen von zwischenmenschlichen Konflikten, Katastrophen, gesundheitlichen oder sozialen Notfällen, stets nach dem Maß der Not. Unter dem Banner der Menschlichkeit wirbt das DRK für das Leben, die Gesundheit, das Wohlergehen, dem Schutz sowie dem friedlichen Miteinander und der Menschenwürde. Allein vier Millionen Mitglieder zählt das Rote Kreuz in Deutschland. Das DRK als nationale Hilfsgesellschaft und einer Dachorganisation der freien Wohlfahrtspflege, bekennt sich zu den Rotkreuzgrundsätzen Menschlichkeit, Unparteilichkeit, Neutralität, Unabhängigkeit, Freiwilligkeit, Einheit und Universalität. Es nimmt insbesondere die Aufgaben wahr, die sich aus den Genfer Abkommen von 1949 und ihren Zusatzprotokollen ergeben, sowie diejenigen, die ihm durch Bundes- oder Landesgesetz zugewiesen sind. Dazu gehören die humanitäre Hilfe in bewaffneten Konflikten und nach Naturkatastrophen sowie die Verbreitung des humanitären Völkerrechts. In Deutschland koordiniert das DRK in Zusammenarbeit mit den Behörden den Katastrophenschutz sowie den zivilen Rettungsdienst. Zu seinen Aufgaben im Inland gehört insbesondere auch die Wohlfahrts- und Sozialarbeit. Das DRK ist föderalistisch strukturiert und besteht aus dem Bundesverband, 19 Landesverbänden, den Kreisverbänden und Ortsvereinen sowie dem Verband der Schwesternschaften.
Der DRK Landesverband Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. ist die regionale Rotkreuzstruktur für Sachsen-Anhalt und leistet verschiedene Leistungen in den verschiedenen Bereichen des DRK. Der Betriebsteil Freiwilligendienste ist einer der größten Bereich des DRK in Sachsen-Anhalt mit mehr als 20 Jahren Erfahrung in der professionellen Zusammenarbeit mit Freiwilligen und deren Einsatzstellen sowie jährlich mehr als 650 jungen Menschen in den nationalen Freiwilligendiensten, FSJ und BFD. Durch das Modellprojekt "Freiwilligendienste machen kompetent" (Freiwilligendienst für Migranten aller Länder von 2007 bis 2010), durch das Projekt "Amicus" (die Aufnahme von 14 französischen Freiwilligen im Jahr 2010), sowie durch die Beteiligung an EFD- und ESK-Projekten hat der DRK Landesverband neben der Durchführung der nationalen Freiwilligendienste BFD und FSJ in Sachsen-Anhalt bereits Erfahrungen im Umgang mit ausländischen Freiwilligen sammeln dürfen und sich dadurch zur Aufgabe erklärt, den Austausch von Freiwilligen auch über Ländergrenzen hinweg beständig zu ermöglichen und die Partizipation der jungen Menschen unterschiedlicher Nationen und Kulturen voneinander sowie die Interkulturalität durch die Freiwilligendienste zu fördern. Die Incoming-Freiwilligendienst des ESK erfolgten seit dem Zyklus 2014-2015 als EFD-durch DRK-Partnerschaften. So koordinierten wir den Einsatz von Freiwilligen in den folgenden Aufnahmeorganisationen in Sachsen-Anhalt: Internationale Kita Herweghstr., Hort "August- Hermann-Francke", Kita "August-Hermann-Francke", DRK Hort "Bunte Welt", DRK Hort "Abenteuerland" sowie der evangelischen Stiftung Neinstedt. Diese Kooperationsprojekte wurden auf Grundlage der engen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Britischen Roten Kreuz und den verschiedenen Einsatzstellen in Sachsen-Anhalt realisiert. Seit 2020 haben wir unser Engagement in der Entsendung von jungen Menschen in ESK-Projekte intensiviert und weiter ausgebaut, hierbei war es uns möglich, erfolgreiche Kooperationen mit dem Französischen Roten Kreuz, dem Österreichischen Roten Kreuz sowie der „La Maison Européene“ („Villa Europas“) zu etablieren.
Der Betriebsteil Freiwilligendienste plant existierende Projekte weiter durchzuführen und das Portfolio an Kooperationen für den nächsten ESK-Förderzeitraum 2021-2027 auszubauen. Unser Gesamtziel ist es, jungen Europäern die Möglichkeit eines Engagements in der freien Wohlfahrtspflege, unabhängig von Herkunft, Beeinträchtigung, Religion oder finanziellem Background zu bieten.
