Brno for you is a non-profit organization that leads young people to the active citizenship, personal development and inclusive society. The organization was founded in 2014 by the students from Mendel University. The organization supports young people through the non-formal education and their own experience. We support young people to become active citizens with social responsibility, who care about their surroundings and create a society where each member has the same rights.

We organize Human Libraries (Don’t judge a book by its cover), where real people are on load to readers. These human books are read through interviews and by this discovered the destiny. Brno for you is only one holder of the Human Library certificate in Czech Republic, by this organizes human library events for the public, schools and the companies.

From the establishing organization, we have been organizing youth exchanges and training courses (KA1), non-formal education activities that we build on our own experience. The projects have impact on local community. Local people can get in contact with foreign participants and learn about different cultures. As one of the few organization in Czech Republic, we dare to work with teenagers within the projects, that require different project management than 18+ projects. Two of our projects received the Quality label award from the National Agency. We are providing young people opportunity to participate in the short-term educational projects under Erasmus+ programme. We are actively involved in the promoting programme Erasmus+, EU programmes and its opportunities. We provide advices to public about these opportunities. We are therefore working as a youth information center without any financial support. We organize local events, local workshops either in the youth center or in the public spaces, cafés or parks in Brno. We are opening the topic of LGBTQ or the social excluded communities to the public (more info at the Facebook www.facebook.com/brnoforyou) We are providing to youth the space of your youth center for implementation their own events. In the past, we were providing the space for screeining of pilot student’s projects, thematic workshops. Experienced volunteers are ready to help to mentor young people in their own local events.

We are providing trainings in companies and schools on topics such as solidarity, tolerance, active citizenship, media literacy. This training is led by non-formal education methods. We are currently preparing Human Libraries for IKEA in Czech Republic and abroad.

We mediate dialogue between the young people and decision-makers through the Oxford debate. Working with this method inspired us to write the KA3 project, where we would like to involve the young people with handicap. By this action representatives and politicians in Brno can get a view of the city from by the citizens who are coming from the difficult background. We are organizing adaption courses and schools in the nature. We offer students an internship. Students can gain experience in the roles such as a coordinator of international projects, coordinator of marketing and PR. We offer them a space for their own projects, initiative, participation at the international events. They can have a great experience and feeling of doing meaningful activities. Currently, we host 4 European volunteers who are involved in all activities of the organization. We currently do not have employees. All members work as volunteers.
