Fundación Montemadrid (hereinafter FMM for short) is an independent non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of citizens through social, educational, cultural and environmental projects.
Many of the FMM's social programmes are carried out in collaboration with various public and private organisations. It focuses on aspects such as employment, personal autonomy, the prevention of dependency, the fight against poverty and inequality, and volunteering, among other aims.
The FMM has a network of nine of its own educational centres. Its educational offer ranges from early childhood education (Montemadrid Nursery Schools), to centres focused on vocational training (Centro de Formación Padre Piquer) or special needs education (Centro Ponce de León). It also has an occupational centre, the first in Spain preferentially for deaf people.
Moreover, the FMM owns two socio-cultural centres, Casa San Cristóbal and La Casa Encendida, which, with a programme conceived from a dynamic and innovative point of view, has been a cultural reference centre in Madrid for more than 20 years.
Finally, in the Environment area, the FMM provides grants to projects in favour of sustainability and the environment with a social perspective. It also develops other projects aimed at nature conservation through the "ReforestaAcción" programme and at promoting a more sustainable lifestyle with the "Cultiva la Amistad" initiative, which is being carried out in the Montemadrid vegetable gardens.
