The Youth Centre “am Tower” (JBS am Tower) is an education centre, which offers political, cultural and intercultural education for young people. The self-image of the JBS am Tower is as simple as challenging. The highest educational goal is to promote the personal empowerment of young people. In the context of seminars children, young people and young adults have the opportunity to try themselves out and negotiate their daily lives. Staying in the youth meeting place is therefore characterised by participation, self-organisation and taking over responsibility.

They get the opportunity to organize their time together in which each individual is respected and can participate. Encouraging and strengthening participation is one of the main tasks of JBS. This includes the inclusion of physically or mentally handicapped children and young people.
The pedagogical team gives impulses to the group and the location and advises the organizers of groups. Our offer of pedagogical modules covers the fields of political, cultural and intercultural education. Topics such as human rights, history, world society, ecology, art, language, culture or cultural differences are taught.
The seminar and learning methods are activating, participants are instructed to be committed, individual, creative, with their own ideas, energetic and action-oriented.
But the "completely normal life" of helping in the kitchen, eating, living and day planning is just as part of the methodology as language animation, business games, music or theatre pedagogy. Each individual brings his or her abilities to the table, without the achievement of the results being in the foreground.

Die Jugendbegegnungsstätte (JBS) am Tower bietet politische, kulturelle und interkulturelle Bildung für junge Menschen an. Im Rahmen von Seminaren haben Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene die Gelegenheit, sich auszuprobieren und ihren Alltag auszuhandeln. Der Aufenthalt in der Jugendbegegnungsstätte ist folglich gekennzeichnet durch Partizipation, Selbstorganisation und Verantwortungsübernahme.
Das höchste Bildungsziel ist die Förderung der Persönlichkeitsentwicklung junger Menschen. Ihnen wird die Möglichkeit zu gemeinschaftlicher Zeitgestaltung gegeben, bei der jeder Einzelne respektiert wird und teilhaben kann. Partizipation zu stärken und dazu zu ermuntern, ist eine der Hauptaufgaben der JBS. Dazu gehört dezidiert auch die Inklusion körperlich oder geistig behinderter Kinder und Jugendlicher.
Das pädagogische Team gibt auf die Gruppe und den Ort abgestimmte inhaltliche Impulse und steht den Organisatoren von Gruppen beratend zur Seite. Das Angebot an pädagogischen Bausteinen deckt die Bereiche der politischen, der kulturellen und der interkulturellen Bildung ab. Themen wie Menschenrechte, Geschichte, Weltgesellschaft, Ökologie, Kunst, Sprache, Kultur oder kulturelle Unterschiede werden fokussiert.
Die Seminar- und Lernmethoden sind aktivierend, Teilnehmer und Teilnehmerinnen werden angeleitet, sich engagiert, individuell, gestalterisch, mit eigenen Ideen, tatkräftig und handlungsorientiert einzubringen.
Aber das „ganz normale Leben“ Mithilfe in der Küche, Essen, Wohnen und Tagesplanung ist ebenso Teil der Methodik wie Sprachanimation, Planspiele, Musik- oder Theaterpädagogik. Jede/r Einzelne bringt sich mit seinen Fähigkeiten ein, ohne dass die Erzielung der Ergebnisse im Vordergrund steht.
