Zavod Modri december (eng. Blue December institute), the Institute for promoting Awareness of Autism and Asperger's syndrome in Koper is a non-governmental organization that creates a safe and inclusive environment for people with autism who want to join the program of leisure activities, learning and other assistance, excursions, walks, socializing, sports activities, manual skills, board games, etc. Initially, the institute provided education and training for professional and lay public. Due to needs, it expanded its activities to include programs or services for people with autism of all ages and their families. It is the first and only NGO in Istria and the coastal and karst region that educates/trains the professional and lay public, and supports families of children with autism and people with autism of all ages.

Main activities include:
● education for parents, professionals and other interested public,
● support groups for people with autism and their families,
● intervision/supervision for professionals and volunteers,
● learning assistance for children/people with autism,
● teaching people with autism to live independently (learning social and other skills),
● counseling for individuals and families when facing a diagnosis for coexistence in society,
● a program of quality socializing for people with autism,
● leisure activities (art, music, literature, games, etc.),
● organization of events on important occasions (April 2nd - World Autism Awareness Day).
