The Social Cooperative Il Sicomoro was born in Matera in 2003 from the Diocesan Caritas. Today, it is active in different municipalities in Basilicata diversifying its interventions in the third sector policies: projects for the reception of refugees and asylum seekers, management of nursing homes, job inclusion services for people with disadvantaged backgrounds and more. The volunteer will support the team in charge of the reception of migrants. In particular he/she will be involved in the activities organized for integration and inclusion of migrants into Italian society. The volunteer will be asked to implement active, outdoor activities such as sport, creative workshops or other activities, with the migrants to support their growth and socialization with local people. He/she will be also involved in daily Language Courses, home work support, artistic workshops, small events realizations, support for bureaucracy and will have the chance to implement a personal project.
Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport
The hosting city Matera has been European Capital of Culture 2019. Volunteers will leave in Matera city centre, in a shared flat (double rooms) 20 min walk from the main office of Il Sicomoro. The apartment is self-managed and the volunteer needs to share kitchen and bathroom with other international volunteers. Local transportation with bus or bike. Money for food will be provided by the host organization. As the rule of ESC program the volunteer receives 150€ pocket money. 200€ is for food money, per month. Money is given via banks transfer each month.
Taħriġ matul l-attività
The volunteer will support professional staff and receive training during practice, but is fundamental that the volunteer is independent and has social and entrepreneurial skills. The volunteer needst to have a deep sense of solidarity and wish to meet and help people. Volunteers will participate to all obligatory trainings of ESC Program. Only applications with CV (English or Italian) will be accepted. We ask for motivation letter. If the profile is interesting a Skype interview will follow. Profil tal-parteċipant
We want to host a volunteer, who is interested in topics related to migration. He/she should have a particular interrest in spreading the values of inclusion, integration, equality and non-discrimination. Some other experiences in volunteering or Erasmus+ projects will be a plus. Moreover, the volunteer should speak English at intermediate level, the knowledge of other languages is highly appreciated, learning Italian is fundamental. We search for a person who is very independent and has entrepreneurial skills, being able to motivate the migrants to take part in social and sport activities.
