Opis

The “Nachbarschaftshaus Helene Kaisen” (na ’) is Bremen's first neighborhood house. In 1952 a facility was built, to offer people “help to self-help” and a place for recreational activities and further education. Even today the na’ is a venue for people in the district and beyond. It is where people of all ages come together, attend and initiate group and course offers, organize (intercultural) festivals, attend concerts, talks or theatrical performances, or take part in socio-cultural education. The volunteer gets an insight and a basic understanding of the facility and its tasks. Both the relevance of the work for the district and knowledge about the district itself are developed step by step. The needs of the visitors also play a major role, as they have an influence on the houses offers.

Ubytovanie, strava a doprava

You will live in a shared flat with one other ESC-volunteer in the city of Bremen, 10 minutes by foot from your working place. Other ESC-volunteers will live in the same building and in the area. The city Centre of Bremen is 30 minutes by tram and the liveley centre of the City District of Gröpelingen is 2 minutey by foot with shops, restaurants & takeaways and tram stations. A ticket for local transportation will be provided. Besides your pocket money (210,00 €) you will also get a monthly amount of 300,00 € for your food expenses and €30,00 for a ticket for local transportation.

Odborná príprava počas činnosti

Beside two Seminars which are organized by the National Agency of the ESC programme, you will have monthly reflection seminars with the other ESC volunteers of AWO. Your personal development will be focused in these seminars and you will have the chance to think bout the skills that you want to gain. Your project implementation will also be addressed in the seminars so that you will get support if you need it. You will also have a German Course in Bremen.

For the "mode of operation" in our neighbourhood house it is helpful if you are an open, communicative and indpendant person. Our house has a lot to offer and there is a huge diversity and abundance of offers, events and opportunities. Your tasks can be just as vast as our activities. Typical tasks of yours will be: - Accompanying weekly offers - Reception of groups and visitors of the house - Supporting the organisation & realisation of events - Development and implementation of an independent project, based on your preferences and skills What we also search for in a candidate is: - Social sensitivity: openness towards people from different backgrounds and disadvantaged groups - Flexibility and openness towards new cultures and working environments - Team spirit: enjoys working with others and is willing to collaborate - Intercultural interest: curious about other cultures and languages
