Deskrizzjoni

Iceland is a global leader in renewable energy, and during your stay you will explore this and other environmental topics while supporting our mission to raise sustainability awareness among young people. Your main role is to create and deliver non-formal education activities such as workshops, talks, interactive sessions, and educational visits. You will update learning materials and provide daily activities on-site or remotely. Flexibility and initiative are essential. The project encourages new ideas that help young people—and our organization—adopt more sustainable practices. As a Camp Leader, you will work with other leaders under remote supervision, organizing and guiding programs for volunteers who typically work 5–7 hours on weekdays. You will also join nature-oriented and environmental protection tasks across Iceland, ensuring a meaningful and supportive learning experience.

Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport

Participants stay at the Worldwide Friends Houses, which offer fully equipped facilities. Beds and bed linens are provided, along with wireless internet access and a washing machine. Rooms typically accommodate 2, 4, or 6 volunteers. Food ingredients are supplied; however, all participants are expected to share cooking and cleaning responsibilities. Since it’s always enjoyable to try new dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite recipes (and spices) from home!

Taħriġ matul l-attività

The project offers meaningful learning opportunities for volunteers, our organization, and the local community. ESC volunteers help strengthen our international dimension through internships, educational tours, and environmental projects. Participants join a 1-week WF Training Program plus the National Agency’s On-Arrival Training. Throughout their service, volunteers gain sustainability skills, learn basic Icelandic, lead creative sessions, and design and implement their own personal project.

Profil tal-parteċipant

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and self-driven volunteers who are eager to take initiative, work independently, and contribute fresh ideas and scalable solutions that support climate action and sustainable living. A good command of English is required, as it is the main working language in our camps. Ideal candidates are open-minded, adaptable, and ready to live in a multicultural environment with other international volunteers. A commitment to sustainability and a genuine interest in addressing global environmental challenges are essential. A strong appreciation for Iceland’s nature and a desire to explore its unique landscapes will greatly enhance your experience. An Environmental Science or similar background is required. We highly value volunteers who enjoy outdoor activities—such as hiking, camping, or swimming—as many project tasks and excursions take place in nature.
