Volunteers of Sininauhasäätiö have a priceless value in our homeless´ people's everyday life by giving their unconditional love and time. Do you want to help the unfortunate ones, while gaining essential work experience and new contacts to your network? Join Sininauhasäätiö´s volunteers. The Blue Ribbon Foundation in Helsinki is an expert and influencer in the field of homelessness and substance abuse work. We develop low-threshold operating models and integrate them into our customers’ everyday lives. We work to make a place for everyone. Our project’s aim is to help and support people who are in the most vulnerable positions in society. We offer two different volunteer profiles so you can choose the role that best matches your interests and skills: Practical ( for 3 volunteers) and Office volunteering (for 1 volunteer).
Ubytování, stravování, doprava
As a volunteer at The Blue Ribbon Foundation, you live in an apartment in Helsinki. For 6 months, you will be sharing a room with a fellow ESC volunteer, and for the rest, you will have your own room. All volunteers will receive their own HSL card for zones A and B, which lets them access all necessary locations for work and the apartment by public transportation. Pocket money will be 7 euros per day, which will be transferred to your bank account once per month. Food support will be arranged through S-Business cards that can be used to buy groceries or food in S-Group shops and restaurants.
Odborná příprava během činnosti
Volunteer gets introduction to the work during the first days and also on arrival- and midterm training. Monthly meetings for volunteer are offered and two refreshing days for volunteers twice in a year. Mentor will be in touch regularly.
Profil účastníka
Practical work includes the following tasks: volunteer work with homeless people, supporting and engaging with people experiencing homelessness, assisting in daily operations and services (among others at housing units and day centers for homeless people), working at Aarreaitta (second-hand shop of clothes and everyday hygiene items), including customer service, sorting donations, and supporting shop activities, and organizing, facilitating activities for our clients. Working hours will be flexible and will differ based on the opening hours of each operated location, the schedule will sometimes include activities in the evening. The project will be a long-term one, lasting 12 months.For practical work volunteer should have will to help people in a weak situation. Positive attitude and open mind for learning new! Office work includes the following tasks: social media management, marketing and communications, fundraising activities, assisting with volunteer coordination, organizing volunteer events, administrative tasks, and representing the organization at events and public appearances. Working hours are usually between 9 AM and 4 PM with rare exceptions. The project for both roles will be a long-term one, lasting 12 months. For office work: Marketing skills or interest are big bonus, social media skills, writing skills, brave and unyielding character big plus! Positive attitude for life needed!
