Deskrizzjoni

The project objective is for the volunteer to gain new skills while the local community gains the knowledge and increased understanding for other cultures. The aim is to develop volunteer`s key competences and gain life experience through non-formal learning. The volunteers will learn about Norwegian coastal culture, what it is like to live in a small coastal municipality, how schools and kindergartens in Norway function, and the structures and functions of Norwegian organizations and voluntary work. Project activities vary throughout the year, but the volunteer is going to be involved in many social places like kindergarten, school, elderly home, second-hand shop, sport equipment rental (BUA) and some occasional projects/events. Being a volunteer in Askvoll open the door to self-improvement, the volunteer might try to perform own projects, take self-initiated. !! Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport

The volunteer will have a private bedroom with shared cooking, washing, laundry and social facilities. The volunteer will have access to a bicycle. The host organization pays for all accommodation costs and the volunteer will receive a monthly food allowance. The volunteer gets reimbursement for use of public transport for work purposes.

Taħriġ matul l-attività

There is an English-speaking manager who is responsible for answering questions, supervising the work of the volunteer, and helping in different ways. There is an English-speaking mentor who can provide psychological support and help, mediate conflicts between the volunteer and a hosting organization, integrate a volunteer into the local society, having regular meeting with the volunteer. (Mentoring is a voluntary work). Also, the volunteer will receive an On-Arrival-Training at the beginning and a Mid-Term-Evaluation after half of their time.

Profil tal-parteċipant

Ideal volunteers enjoy outdoor activities in all weather, are sociable with people of all ages, open to new experiences, and take initiative. They should be self-assured, mature, and adventurous, able to work in teams, and possess good communication skills. A clean police record is required. Willingness to learn Norwegian, adapt to a rough climate, work independently, and be available for evening and weekend shifts is crucial. !!
