YOLO - From Ideas to Experience

We are looking for a one volunteer for half a year (6 months); starting as soon as possible; latest at the end of April! The project provides both the volunteers as well as children and youth of Kerava an opportunity to internationalise and gain a learning experience from cultural interaction. The volunteers will take part in the various activities of the Kerava Youth Services and Kerava City Library. Volunteers will work with children and youth (mainly 9-25 years old). Volunteers participate in the youth house evenings, detached youth work, and other activities the youth services and city library provide. Kerava youth services also encourage volunteers to co-operate with other municipal actors and local NGOs, depending on their personal interests. All activities will be carried out together with the youth workers/library workers, regarding the professional skills and interests of the volunteer. A lot of activities will be done in the evenings and some in the weekends.

Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport

Volunteer will be accommodated in an apartment provided by the City of Kerava. Apartment is located close to the city centre. Both volunteers will stay in the same apartment, which consists of two individual bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, shared kitchen and living room and a small backyard. Volunteers will be given bicycles which is a useful way of getting around in Kerava. Meals are mainly provided at the Kerava High School. Volunteers are also provided travel cards for Helsinki Regional Transport to get around within the capital region.

Taħriġ matul l-attività

Finnish courses will take place in Kerava and in the online-course. It is also possible for volunteers to participate in gatherings and other non-formal meetings of the other volunteers working in Finland.

Profil tal-parteċipant

We look for volunteers over 20 years old, outgoing, initiative and capable to work with children and youth. Ability to process own views of the activities, and capability to plan and carry out/implement activities for children and young people aged mainly between 13-17 years is essential. Due to the housing arrangements, it is important that the volunteers are capable of living together with a person coming possibly from a different cultural background. Adequate English skills and accredited sending organisation are required. ATTENTION! We only accept candidates from EU- and EFTA -countries.
