Opis
Do you want to contribute to Children and Local Community Empowerment and Environmental Conservation? This volunteering gives the opportunity to youth 18-35 years old to spend 6 months supporting the local organisation ICYE Nigeria, whose mission is to contribute toward the socio-economic empowerment of disadvantaged communities around Lagos, Nigeria. Volunteers will work 30-38 hours per week and will mainly carry out the following activities: Educational support for children in schools and after-school clubs; Organization of initiatives and trainings for community members on Health Education, climate change, sustainable living practices and environmental conservation; Environmental conservation activities around the area of Makoko (planting trees, cleaning waterways and paths, removing invasive species..); Advocacy materials and activities to raise awareness around the problems affecting the community and to promote policy changes. Dates are flexible (180 days).
Ubytovanie, strava a doprava
The volunteers will be placed in a host family in Lagos. They will share a room in the house and will have their breakfast and dinner at home. Lunch will be provided for the volunteers since they will be at the work project during the day. Volunteers will receive an allowance of 32€ per day to cover flight tickets, Visa costs, vaccinations and other personal expenses. Airport pick up upon arrival & drop off, food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), accommodation and all administrative costs will be covered by the program
Odborná príprava počas činnosti
Volunteers will attend an online training before departure and a face-to-face training upon arrival, where they will be given all the necessary information about the activities and the daily life in the country. Volunteers will have access to a range of support services, including language support. Your European support organisation will be Amigos de Europa
Profil účastníka
We are looking for a motivated volunteer who is interested in the area of work of the hosting organisation and who is willing to adapt to the new culture, new food and environment, and to follow the safety guidelines that they will receive.
