The AICHA association's educational project focuses on the challenges of the region's population and its fight against desertification through specific projects such as: - The right to sustainable development - Environmental education and development of international cooperation - The creation of argan and carob forests Volunteers will participate in: 1. Expansion of the covered area of the nursery + installation of an irrigation system for the cuttings 2. Grafting 6000 carob seedlings 3. The preparation of 14,000 fruit tree seedlings (pomegranate trees, olive trees, quince trees, fig trees, etc.) 4. The maintenance and fertilization action of 1000 fruit trees in the nursery 5. Conversation workshops in Spanish and English and ecological awareness for the children of the Oasis 6. Training workshops organized by the association 7. The production of organic compost and pesticides 8. Nursery actions 9. Maintenance of social networks and development of reports
Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport
The activity will take place in Oumifiss, which is located in the southern regions of Morocco. It belongs to the Province of Guelmim, also known as the gateway to the Sahara. The city proper has a population of approximately 2,413, which is considerably low compared to other regions. The location is strategic as it is surrounded by wonderful beaches. Participants will stay in a house prepared for Oumifiss volunteers with double, triple or quadruple rooms, a common living room, bathroom and terrace.
Taħriġ matul l-attività
Participants will receive training upon arrival and ongoing training related to the activities they will carry out related to the nursery. The coordinating organization will be in contact with the participants throughout the period. They will also participate in a final evaluation at the end of their volunteering organized by AICHA and Ecocompartimos.
Profil tal-parteċipant
We are looking for 9 participants who want to live an experience in the desert. They must be proactive and being interested in the environment since all tasks are focused on that area. Applicants must be tolerant of other cultures and religions and speak English, French or Arabic.
