Urgently looking for musicians (mainly brass and wind players – clarinet, trombone, saxophone, flute, etc.), bassists, guitarrint and drummers to join a unique swing volunteer band as part of a meaningful art and social project. The selected volunteers will form a Swing Music Band (we already have part of the group) that will perform concerts for elderly and vulnerable people in nursing homes and hospitals. Due to the consequences of COVID-19, many in these communities now face increased loneliness, mobility loss, depression, and cognitive decline. These concerts will serve not only as entertainment, but most importantly as a source of connection, joy, and healthy interaction. The project may also include a final concert with a local band or a Lindy Hop club, most likely in Madrid or Alicante. Ubytovanie, strava a doprava
We primary will stay at our house Casa Jazmin in Sanet in Negrals, Alicante Spain, a small village 100 km from Valencia and Alicante and not far from the sea. The house looks like a youth hostal and will be used by our group. The first days will be used to practise and for group dynamics, and therefore the group will stay at a remote basic house to be able to create a repertory. During the following days, they will be travelling to other locations in Alicante and Madrid nwhere we will stay in Sierra Norte. Food expenses are covered by De Amicitia. The volunteers are meant to cook their meals
Odborná príprava počas činnosti
The volunteers will have an opportunity to live and play together in a group of people of different nationalities, so they can learn many interesting things from each other and raise their level of cultural tolerance. Also, it´s a great experience of working in a team, especially an international one. It´s a project where you can show all your musical talents and creativity. The activities should also include the relation with the eldery in their homes after the concert is finished.
Profil účastníka
We are looking prefererably for very motivated young people who have excellent musical skills and can play an instrument ( a brass and a metal (clarinet, trombone, saxophone, flute etc)) bass or drums (maybe other instruments) to be inlcude in a Swing Band. Lindy hop dancers, singers and video makers may be included somehow as long as the can play music. We are also looking for stage man/women able to drive an old van. Candidates SHOULD send us a video where we can evaluate their skills as a musician together with a CV.Any other volunteer, including also those with fewer opportunities are also welcome to apply
