Opis
Geysir Clubhouse is a place where people with mental illness come to rebuild their lives. The participants are called members, not patients, and the focus is on their strengths, not their illness. Work in the clubhouse provides the core healing process. Every opportunity provided is the result of the efforts of the members and staff who work side by side in unique partnership. One of the most important steps members take toward greater independence is transitional employment where they work in the community in real jobs. Members also receive assistance in securing housing, advancing their education, obtaining good psychiatric and medical care, and maintaining public benefits. The volunteer will be work alongside the members of the Clubhouse carrying out various tasks, such as kitchen, administration, cleaning, etc. Some tasks may feel monotonous but the ideology is based on increasing the communication, confidence and work skills of the members in a supportive environment.
