Volunteering in family gardens and agroecological practices - Amplifying the Voice for Climate Action (AVCA Project)

ASPEm

ASPEm Bolivia

Cochabamba, Bolívia

Opis

The volunteer sent by VC will support ASPEm and Yachay Chhalaku in strengthening the economic rights and autonomy of rural women who are survivors of violence, through sustainable and agroecological production processes. The activities focus on food security, income generation, reduction of economic vulnerability and promotion of initiatives through digital platforms. The volunteer will accompany women in the development and strengthening of family agroecological plots and home gardens, supporting sustainable agricultural production aimed at both self-consumption and local markets. They will participate in training activities on agroecological practices and contribute to the development of manuals, educational materials and communication strategies. Activities will take place mainly in the field, in both urban and rural areas, and will be combined with office-based work, such as documentation, report writing and preparation of material for social media.

Ubytovanie, strava a doprava

The accommodation is located in Cochabamba, where ASPEm’s local office is based. The city offers a variety of activities, courses, shopping centers, and services. The house is shared with other volunteers; each person has a private room. Basic utilities (water, gas, electricity, and internet) are included. The house is located in the northern part of the city, close to shops, pharmacies, and banks, and has good access to safe and affordable public transportation to reach Sacaba, where the project activities take place. Vegetarian and vegan options are available in the city, though limited.

Odborná príprava počas činnosti

The volunteer will participate in a pre-departure training organized by VC and ASPEm in Italy. In Bolivia, ASPEm offers training and exchange spaces focused on gender equality and support for rural women survivors of violence, as well as a practical learning in agroecology and food security. Within the project, online meetings with other volunteers are planned as spaces for training and for sharing experiences, challenges and practices. Transversal competences such as autonomy, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving will be strengthened. Competences will be certified through Youthpass.
