Biodiversity Monitoring and Community Engagement in Ecuador
ICJA - FREIWILLIGENAUSTAUSCH WELTWEIT EV
Fundación VASE Voluntariado para la Ayuda Social del Ecuador
Toacaso (Cotopaxi), Еквадор
Описание
Volunteers participate in daily biodiversity walks, documenting local flora and fauna through observations as well as photo, video, and audio recordings while also exploring new trails together with community members. They help process this data by organizing, classifying, and uploading records to a shared Google Drive folder, using digital identification tools to make preliminary species identifications. Together with local youth, volunteers also create social media content that highlights community activities, biodiversity, and cultural traditions. During dialogue circles, community members, the Despierta team, and volunteers exchange experiences and discuss environmental practices. Volunteers support the preparation and delivery of workshops aimed at strengthening community organization and skills. Additionally, they assist with environmental education for children and young people in local schools.
