Basilicata Link is a non-profit youth organisation based in Matera, committed to promoting active citizenship, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable local development.
The organisation designs and implements projects funded by programmes such as the ESC and Erasmus+. Its activities focus on youth participation, non-formal education, volunteering, cultural heritage, environmental sustainability, social innovation, and community engagement.
B-Link works with local authorities, schools, cultural organisations (in particular with IAC), and international partners to create learning opportunities that empower young people and strengthen local communities and support IAC with the technical and logistical aspects of performances and events, organise and deliver theatre workshops and in the day-to-day activities.

The hosting city Matera has been European Capital of Culture 2019 while in 2026 was nominated Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue. Volunteers leave in Matera city centre, in a shared flat, hosted in double rooms, not far from the working place. The apartment is self- managed and the volunteer needs to share kitchen and bathroom with other international guests. There is no need for local transportation. As the rule of ESC program the volunteer receives €6 per day for pocket money and €200 per month for food money. Money will be sent via bank transfer each month.

The volunteers will be involved in all the activities and support the daily life of the Basilicata Link association. On the arrival Basilicata Link will provide training regarding the main tasks such as meeting the local partners and establishing fruitful relationships, learning how to use social media and and how to deal with local youth, institutions, schools, local organizations linked with the Capital of the Mediterranean. We are looking for motivated young people aged 18–30 who are interested in volunteering in an international and intercultural environment. No previous professional experience is required; enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are the most important qualities. Participants should:
- Be interested in youth work, community development, culture, or non-formal education.
- Be open-minded, flexible, and willing to work in a multicultural team.
- Have a positive attitude towards active citizenship, inclusion, solidarity, and European values.
- Be motivated to contribute to local community initiatives while developing personal and professional skills.
- Be willing to participate in practical activities, workshops, events, and communication tasks.
- Have good communication and teamwork skills and be ready to take initiative when appropriate.
- Possess a basic knowledge of English to communicate with the international team (knowledge of Italian is not required).
The project is particularly suitable for participants who wish to gain experience in community engagement, cultural activities, European projects, digital communication, event organisation, and intercultural learning. Volunteers with fewer opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply.
