The Animals of Noah's ark - Costume Making Edition
Service national de la jeunesse
Erpeldange-sur-Sûre, il-Lussemburgu
Deskrizzjoni
The "Service National de la jeunesse (SNJ)" (National Youth Service) is a state agency subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. The SNJ's tasks include contributing to the creation of the legal framework, organizing educational programmes for children and young people, supporting young people in their transition to active life. One mission of the SNJ Centre Cinqfontaines is to raise awareness of anti-discrimination among young people. The story of Noah's ark offers a good opportunity to discuss this difficult topic with young people. In this story all animals have the right to go on board. From there, we can make the transfer to people and human rights. In the previous edition of the project, the volunteers wrote a script for a children's play based on the story of Noah's Ark. In this year's edition, the participants will create the costumes for the play.
Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport
The volunteers will be accommodated in the SNJ chalet Erpeldange-sur-Sûre and will sleep in shared rooms and use shared bathrooms. In the chalet, participants must purchase food for breakfast and dinner themselves (the costs will be covered) and will cook dinner together. The next supermarket is 10min.(by bus) away from the chalet. Lunch is always taken at the Atelier of SNJ in Colmar-Berg. Public transport is free of charge in Luxembourg.
Taħriġ matul l-attività
The first 3 days after the volunteer’s arrival are dedicated to an on-arrival training. This training will prepare the team as good as possible for the upcoming challenges. During that training, the social workers who organize this project will also be present. The participants work in the Atelier of SNJ in Colmar-Berg (about 20 minutes by bus from the chalet). There, the participants are supported by experts in the creation of the costumes.
Profil tal-parteċipant
The participants must have a basic level of English, should be autonomous enough to live on their own for most of the time. We are looking for participants who enjoy practical and creative work. The designs and sketches are already prepared, so the main task is to bring them to life. Activities include cutting and sewing fabric, using a sewing machine, assembling costume parts and decorating accessories such as hats or caps. Previous experience is not required, but can be an advantage. The participants should be motivated to invest their time in the foreseen project.
