Community in Action – Stratoni

Deskrizzjoni

Through a wide range of community initiatives, we work to make Stratoni more active, connected, welcoming, and sustainable. We care for stray animals and support their daily needs and veterinary care, while organizing cultural and sports events that bring people together through tradition, creativity, play, and joy. We clean and paint beaches, parks, and public spaces, promoting environmental awareness and a cleaner village. We also promote composting and sustainable habits within the community.

Our podcast for AristoRadio gives voice to local stories and fresh perspectives, while our open-air cinema initiative brings memorable movie experiences to 16 villages. We create positive moments for children through activities at KDAP and contribute to the digital presence of Stratoni by upgrading its website. We also support the Library of Stratoni and welcome visitors at Seahorse Park, sharing the village’s history, stories, and beauty. Also we will hosting and implementing workshops,

Renovated in 2025, the house provides a comfortable and well-equipped living space for volunteers. The house has two gender-separated bedrooms, a shared living room, a fully equipped kitchen, one shared bathroom, and a laundry room. Volunteers can also enjoy a front and a back yard, providing outdoor space for relaxation and social activities.

Volunteers are responsible for their own food and meals during their stay. The fully equipped kitchen allows them to prepare and cook their meals independently, encouraging everyday interaction, cooperation, and a sense of shared responsibility.

Profil tal-parteċipant

We are looking for motivated young people aged 18–30 who are interested in volunteering, community life, youth work, environmental activities, culture, sports, cinema, animals and media. Previous experience is not required. What matters most is your motivation, creativity, responsibility and willingness to actively participate in the life of a small rural community. 

The ideal participant: 
- is motivated to live and volunteer in a rural and coastal area of Northern Greece 
- enjoys working with children, young people and members of the local community 
- is interested in environmental activities, such as compost, animal welfare, culture and community events 
- is willing to help organise and support sports events and recreational activities for the local community 
- is interested in organising and supporting cinema screenings and outdoor cinema events 
- enjoys outdoor activities and spending time in nature 
- is creative and willing to develop and implement their own ideas 
- is interested in social media, photography, video, podcasts or other forms of communication 
- can work both independently and as part of a team 
- is responsible, flexible and willing to take initiative 
- is open to intercultural learning and sharing their own culture and experiences 
- is prepared for the realities of living in a rural area 

You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to be willing to learn, contribute and become an active part of the community.
