Opis
Our Foundation supports adults with intellectual disabilities. We provide two main services: a Therapy and Work Day Care Centre and supported residential homes.
Our key values are normalisation, independence and acceptance. We are looking for open-minded volunteers who treat everyone equally and challenge prejudice.
Our project aims to help our clients develop their skills and knowledge through leisure activities. We also organise inclusive programmes with students from the University of Pécs.
Here, you will meet wonderful people with intellectual disabilities who have big hearts and are open to others.
We have hosted international volunteers before, and our clients are always asking when the next volunteer will arrive. So we are waiting for you!
You can join our workshops, spend time with our clients and have fun together!
Ubytovanie, strava a doprava
We rent a two-bedroom apartment with internet access in Pécs, where our volunteers can live.
Every month, we provide pocket money and money for food, which volunteers can use to buy food and other things they need.
The Foundation also provides household essentials and can help with other needs from time to time.
Volunteers receive a Hungarian mobile phone plan with a phone number and internet access.
We also provide a monthly bus pass for travelling around the city.
Odborná príprava počas činnosti
The sending organisation provides training for volunteers before they leave their home country.
After arrival, the hosting organisation organises meetings and discussions to make sure volunteers understand everything about the programme and the project.
Volunteers are expected to attend the on-arrival training and mid-term evaluation organised by the Hungarian National Agency.
If possible, we also encourage our volunteers to take part in other training opportunities, including training after they return home at the end of the project.
Profil účastníka
We are looking for volunteers who are open-minded, caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
We work with adults with intellectual disabilities, who may sometimes behave or communicate differently from other people. Some may also have physical differences. However, they are very sensitive to how others treat them and can feel when they are not accepted.
We would like our volunteers to accept our clients as they are and treat them with the same respect and kindness as anyone else.
You don't need any previous experience working with people with disabilities. What matters most is that you are open to learning and willing to follow the guidance of our professional staff.
