Opis
The community school support volunteer introduces progressive, learner-centered methods in education, enhancing teacher capacity and fostering intercultural understanding. // RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in classroom activities, providing direct support to learners and ensuring effective instructional delivery; Support the planning and facilitation of co-curricular activities to promote holistic student development; Enhance the pedagogical skills of the teaching team through training and professional development opportunities; Assist in delivering computer and digital literacy lessons to staff and learners, promoting the use of technology in education; Contribute to strategies that aim to improve student academic performance through targeted support and instructional methods; Assist in initiatives to increase school enrolment by promoting educational programs and engaging with prospective students; Involving parents and caregivers in the learning process.
Ubytovanie, strava a doprava
Accommodation will be provided in a shared apartment with other volunteers, each having a private, lockable bedroom, located in the suburbs of Kampala (Nansana or Kasubi-Nakulabye). A monthly allowance will cover food, communication expenses, and transportation. The volunteer will travel daily to the project site. Public transport in Kampala mainly consists of commuter taxis (Matatus), while shorter distances are typically covered using motorbikes known as Boda Bodas.
Odborná príprava počas činnosti
The volunteer will participate in an online pre-departure training, followed by an in-person intensive induction upon arrival at the host organization. Additionally, the volunteer will receive financial support and encouragement to learn the local language.
Profil účastníka
POSITION IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CANDIDATES WITH PREVIOUS ESC/EVS/EU VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE EXCEEDING 5 MONTHS. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual with a background or strong interest in education, teaching, pedagogy, or a related field. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about learner-centered approaches, committed to improving educational outcomes, and comfortable supporting both students and teachers in a cross-cultural setting. Experience in classroom support, teacher training, or curriculum development is an advantage. The volunteer should be open to engaging with parents and caregivers, contributing to co-curricular activities, and using digital tools to support learning and instruction.
