Results of the Photo Contest - April 2019 (working with disabled people)

Zeynep from Turkey: For a year, I volunteered at a green recreational sport organisation in Flanders, Belgium. Although the main role was being a sport guide for visitors, I love undertaking multiple tasks to experience new things and challenge myself to see my limits; also to express myself to others in different ways. Taking pictures is always my favourite way for it, because when I feel too much for something, I just want to stop the time and remember that magical moment whenever I look at it. Here, you are the witness of one of these moments; the moment I perceived that I overcame my fears (how to behave and communicate with special youngsters with my limited Dutch) during my favourite activity, climbing; and the moment I felt the transparency in relation we build together unconsciously. I call it ‘’a language’’ between the hearts, which can only be felt instead of speech. So, we did not just climb on a tower but higher: to the one we build in our minds.
