Opis organizácie

Stichting Internationale Werkkampen (SIW) or SIW International Volunteer Projects is a Dutch non-governmental, nonprofit voluntary service organization founded in 1953. The mission of SIW is to stimulate people to broaden their horizon through international volunteering and bringing volunteers into contact with different cultures. This way, SIW wants to facilitate international contact and understanding, contribute to the personal growth and development of young people and encourage them to carry out social, cultural and environmental activities. These
activities are offered on our projects in the Netherlands and the projects organised by partners from our network abroad.

This is achieved by offering volunteering projects in the Netherlands and projects organised by partners from our network abroad. Most participants are youngsters between 17 and 24 years old. Typically SIW sends some 150 youngsters abroad and receives some 80 youngsters from all over the world. The target group for the Dutch projects includes youngsters with fewer opportunities.

In the last few years the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have become more important. We organise and promote projects that support the SDGs whereas sustainability has also become more important in our own ways of working. This also reflects in the new slogan of SIW: Discover your impact abroad!
