Deskrizzjoni tal-Organizzazzjoni

Politistiko Ergastiri Ayion Omoloyiton was established as a non profit organization in 2002, to host the Workshop of Traditional Dancing, which was initiated in 1999 and the other cultural activities developed throughout the years. (Traditional Music, Film, Photography and Theatre). More than 100 children and adults have the chance to be involved and express themselves artistically through the various activities offered by the organization.

Our neighberhood, a historical neighborhood, dated as a burial site in ancient times (archaic­ roman period), one of the oldest settlings outside the wall of Lefkosia, has lately been reviving after a long period of decay. New families are moving in the houses restored considered as national heritage architecture. The neighborhood consists of habitats from different cultures and background making it an excellent place for inter-cultural learning practicing tolerance and participation.

The organization's activities are focused in two dimensions; the local/national and the European/international dimension. In some activities like the World Wide Village project these dimensions overlap and are closely attached. Traditional music, dance, film photography and theatre workshops are running through out the year focused on the local community, in combination with other activities such as live music performances, board game playing, language sessions etc. European/international dimension involves activities developed, organized and implemented by key stuff members of the organization in collaboration and corporation with partner organizations throughout Europe. Youth exchanges, training courses and seminars are some of the examples of the activities.
A strong interest and focus has been growing on European Voluntary Service projects where we gain more experience year by year, new needs arise and we have the enthusiasm and motivation to work for a better result every time. Based on key stuff, local and international Volunteers’ active involvement in organizing activities, being involved in the implementation of local and international trainings for youths, youth workers but also trainings for Trainers, the organization offer a powerful and challenging environment for personal development, self awareness, active participation and involvement in community life.
