School facility Lipka is one of the biggest and oldest institutions of environmental education for kids and adults in the Czech Republic. It´s a leading and inspirational institution with more than 25 years of experience concerning all the educational levels and types. Lipka organises or participates on educational programmes for schools, leisure time activites for kids (kids clubs, camps) and adults (crafts, natural gardening etc.), further education for teachers, university teaching, public events, international projects and cooperation etc. Lipka works with Czech and Slovak volunteers and will be happy to arrange meeting with both foreign and Czech volunteers.
The activities are mainly focused on the environment and nature protection. The courses cover a wide range of topics, e.g. gardening, botany or crafting. Lipka offers also special courses for eldery people. The main target groups are kids (from nursery schools to universities) and adults, especially teachers. Lipka wants to offer possibilities, how to adopt environmentally-friendly ways of life. It can be also inspiring for volunteer - how Lipka works with public, kids and how people can change their habits in way to live sustainable with nature. Lipka is situated in Brno, which is the second biggest city in the Czech Republic. The population is almost 400 000 people. Brno, with its 14 universities and 3 university campuses, is favorite city among students and young people. Many Erasmus students come to Brno each year to study at one of the universities. Brno is multilingual city - you are very likely to find comunity speaking by your mother tongue in Brno.
Thanks to the geographical position Brno has excellent transport accessibility. Transportation within the city is provided by buses, trolley buses and trams. You can find a lot of monuments in Brno, e.g. fortress of Špilberk, Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul or villa Tugendhat, which is inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List. Lipka has 5 facilities (Lipova, Kamenna, Rozmarynek, Jezirko, Rychta) led by one head office. Each facility is focused on a slightly different target group to make the offer of the organisation wide and atractive for schools, kids, teachers or public. All of this activities are provided during whole year. Volunteers will be participating on all activities, according to their interest, wishes and focus, e.g.:
- take part in educational programmes for kids (from nursery schools to high schools) - During school year almost every day volunteer can help with preparation of tools, take pictures or video.
- education of university students (approx. 15 participants, occasionally)
- preparation and leading of kids club (whole year) or camps (approx. 24 participants, during holidays)
- help with administrative work in the organization (copy, photography, creation and distribution of leaflets, etc.)
- assisting the proffesional gardeners in building and taking care of the garden and its facilities (e.g. weeding, pruning, reparation of garden components) (seasonally)
- care of animals (continuously)
- take part in activities for adults and eldery people (mainly focused on crafts) (approx. 15 participants, occasionally)
- take part in organization of public events (approx. hundreds of participants, occasionally)

We usually host volunteers for 1 year (12 months).

Facility Lipova is focused mainly on crafting, sustainable lifestyle, origin of food and cooperates with disabled people. Facility Kamenná prepares activities especially for university students, teachers and elderly people. There are also educational programmes focused mainly on high school students. Facility Rozmarynek prepares and implements educational programmes for wide range of target groups (kids from nursery schools to high school students) focused on healthy life style and healthy living. They also prepare school trips and curative stays. The main focus of facility Jezírko is on forests - they prepare one-day and residential programmes about forest with special emphasis on sense perception and experiental learning. Facility Rychta targets on high school students and it prepares residential programmes, field trips and project days focused on the landscape (its development, parts and connection in the landscape). Facility Rychta is situated in Drahan Highlands on the edge of Moravian Carst.

Lipka has experience not only with european volunteering programs. We participate also in KA1 Podpora rozvoje lektorských dovedností a kompetencí směřujících k environmentálně a sociálně odpovědnému chování and KA2 S přírodou k vzájemnému porozumění.
