MONA is a Rescue and Rehabilitation center near Girona surrounded by nature that serves as a home for rescued primates and as a place to develop educational and training activities. Caring for and understanding leads us to understand and respect wild animals in general.
These primates have been circus performers, television performers, advertising models, or even pets. An invisible mistreatment in our society. . MONA offers them a new life option, they will live in facilities adapted to their needs, forming social groups and recovering as much as possible from their physical, psychological and emotional consequences. Their stories will serve to explain how they really are and emphasize the indiscriminate treatment of human towards the planet. It is about becoming aware of our actions that threaten the survival of flora-fauna and the disappearance of habitats.
Our main activities are:
Rescue / Rehabilitation: We rescue abused primates. We rehabilitate them physically and mentally and offer them a second life in a group.
Research / Courses: We are committed to ethological training and research, to monitor and improve the well-being of primates.
Education /: We explain our work to the public in order to raise awareness and reduce the risks of these threatened species.
The target groups are:
1) Starting with our volunteers participants who carry out their activity at MONA
2) Schools
3) Families that visit us.
4) Students seeking training and specialization in Primatology.
