Hephata, als Mitglied im Diakonischen Werk, engagiert sich als diakonisches Unternehmen seit 1901 in der Rechtsform eines gemeinnützigen Vereins für Menschen, die Unterstützung brauchen, gleich welchen Alters, Glaubens oder welcher Nationalität. Hephata heißt "öffne dich" und hinter unserem Unternehmensnamen seht ein biblisches Hoffnungsbild: Während Jesus einen Mann heilt, der taub und stumm ist, spricht er das Wort "Hephata. (Markus 7,32-37).
In Evangelischer Tradition beschäftigen wir in Hessen, Thüringen und Nordbayern mittlerweile mehr als 3000 Mitarbeiter in der Jugendhilfe und der Behindertenhilfe, in der Rehabilitation Suchtkranker, in Psychiatrie und Neurologie, in der Heilpädagogik, der Wohnungslosenhilfe, in der Pflege und Betreuung von Senioren, in Förderschulen und in der beruflichen Bildung.
Die Aufnahmeprojekte befinden sich im nordhessischen Schwalmstadt-Treysa und sind in der Behindertenhilfe angegliedert. In diesem Tätigkeitsbereich der Einrichtung leben überwiegend geistig und mehrfach behinderte Menschen, die dort in unterschiedlichen Strukturen wie Wohnen, Arbeiten, Freizeit und Gesundheitsaspekten, wie zum Beispiel Sport in Verbindung mit Psychotherapie begleitet werden.
Schwalmstadt ist eine Kleinstadt ca. 50 km südlich von Kassel gelegen. Die Einrichtung, die mit ihren vielen Beschäftigten die Stadt mit prägt, ermöglicht den Freiwilligen über vielfältige Kontakte in Vereinen, Kultur und privaten Möglichkeiten einen guten Zugang zur lokalen Gemeinschaft.

Hephata, as a member of the Diakonisches Werk, has been involved as a diaconal company since 1901 in the legal form a non-profit association for people who need support, no matter what age, belief or what Nationality. Hephata means "open up" and behind our company name you can see a biblical picture of hope: While healing a man who is deaf and dumb, Jesus speaks the word "Hephata" (Mark 7: 32-37). In the Protestant tradition, we now employ more than 3000 people in Hessen, Thüringen und North Bayern in youth welfare and assistance for the disabled, in the rehabilitation of addicts, in psychiatry and neurology, in the Curative education, helping the homeless, in the care and support of seniors, in special schools and in the vocational education.
The admission projects are located in Schwalmstadt-Treysa in the north of Hesse and are in the disability assistance affiliated. Mainly mentally and multiply disabled people live in this area of activity of the facility, those there in different structures such as living, working, leisure and health aspects, such as sport in connection with psychotherapy.
