Unis-Cité is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 to encourage the concrete commitment of young people to fight against inequalities, racism and exclusion, and thus develop living together. Unis-Cité has been working to promote voluntary service for young people aged 16 to 25 (30 years for young people with disabilities), so that it becomes natural, whatever their background, to dedicate a stage of their life to solidarity and thus contribute to the emergence of a society of responsible and united individuals, aware of their own role in building the society of tomorrow, alongside associations, public actors and businesses.
In Saint-Etienne, the organization is located near the city center. We host between 40 and 50 french volunteers each years in voluntary service. They can invest themselves in it for 6 to 8 months, full-time, in teams, within the framework of the French Civic Service, while benefiting from a training course, an allowance, an insurance and recognition which then facilitates their integration. This experience provides young people with a basis for acquiring the skills and codes of living together and promotes concrete learning about diversity.
