ICM Slaný (YIC) is a Youth Information Center established under a leisure center for Children and Youth DDM OSTROV Slaný. DDM OSTROV is a Public body organization with more than 50 years of tradition and the main focus on providing hobby clubs and summer camps for children and youth in Slaný. The department ICM Slaný (Informační centrum pro mládež) is focused on working with young people age 12-30 years old. We organize all kinds of activities including workshops in local schools, by which we bring non-formal education into the formal education system, we provide language clubs for the public, organize cultural and charity events, etc. The department is also active on the international level thanks to Erasmus+ program and the European Solidarity Corps. Most of our activities focus on raising awareness about stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and their impact on individuals; on authenticity and improving soft skills of the youth we work with; and on sustainability and protection of nature. Our main objectives are to raise tolerance among people, promote diversity and inclusion, raise the employability of our young clients, and to bring non-formal education methods to schools.
