Babele onlus is an association involved in the integration of migrant families through activities of cultural mediation and assistance of children and young people attending school.
The association works in two public youth centers with youngsters from 11 to 21. They are fewer opportunities kids with disadvantaged cultural, educational and social backgrounds. Many of them are immigrants and the most of them attend vocational schools. The association is used to work with youngsters with fewer opportunities dealing with topics like intercultur, prejudices and antiracism and strongly works on the integration of migrant youngsters offering Italian language classes, educational and urban cohesion activities.
The association participated in many Youth Exchanges designed for fewer opportunities youngsters since 2013 and is now running a non formal educational course once a month to increase Youngsters with fewer opportunities’ participation in Youth Exchanges.
The association organizes also the Local Human Library (a tool to fight discrimination) taking care also of the training of books. Legal counselling is linked mainly to the permission of staying. The association carries out different projects dealing with asylum seekers and urban cohesion in the peripheries of the town involving also the local Sinti community.
