Our Organisation:

We, the Pro Gemeinsinn foundation, are a non-profit company, focusing on early childhood education and after-school care, with currently 220 employees in Berlin.
Our aim is to create a positive environment for children, from the age of 1 to 12 years, to flourish, learn, enjoy and grow and to make them feel as important members of our society. And we currently realize those aims within our six kindergartens and our eight full day care facilities located in private and public primary schools in Berlin.

What to expect as a volunteer with us? - Project 1

In our bilingual German-French kindergarten „Froschkönig/The Frog Prince“, we care for 75 children between the ages of 1 and 6 years.
This kindergarten was built in 2020 and is located in Berlins green north west, where nature is a big asset and part of our and the children’s daily life.
It’s important to us, that the children in our care grow up with the language and culture of our neighboring countries. We practice the immersion method: during their day to day life the children hear both languages and additionally learn the languages naturally.
Since Berlin is a melting pot of cultures, it is of highest importance to us, to work alongside young volunteers like you, to represent a divers and versatile Europe within our facilities.
Throughout your volunteer year you will be observing, learning and working alongside our qualified educators regarding the daily activities of our kindergarten and valuable member of our team. Those activities include working with children, playing games, making toys, reading, painting, singing and much more.
Your own projects are more than welcome. We want to encourage and support you to realize projects of your own interests and talents. Those might include art, nature, culture, cooking, baking or science. Feel free to integrate and discuss your ideas with our educators.
Berlin itself is a very open-minded city, we have no doubt that you’ll make connections within our team and outside of work quickly, as well as being able to pickup the German language swiftly.
The organization ICJA is also there for you, to help, support and connect you with other volunteers in Berlin.

In our bilingual German-Polish kindergarten „Jorinde & Joringel“ we care for 92 children between the ages of 1 and 6 years in two houses.
The kindergarten is located in Berlins green north west, where nature is a big asset and part of our and the children’s daily life.
It’s important to us, that the children in our care grow up with the language and culture of our neighboring countries. We practice the immersion method: during their day to day life the children hear both languages and additionally learn the languages naturally.
Since Berlin is a melting pot of cultures, it is of highest importance to us, to work alongside young volunteers like you, to represent a divers and versatile Europe within our facilities.
