Bargas is a town in the province of Toledo, belonging to the Sagra region. Its extension is 89.48 km2. It comprises a total of five population centers distributed between the town, the urbanizations and the rest of the municipal term. It presents a favored position, since it is 65 km from Madrid; 10 km from Toledo and 78.6 km from Talavera de la Reina. It has a census population to date of 10,355 inhabitants, of which about 1,100 are young people between the ages of 14 and 30, which represents 11% of the total population.

At present, Bargas reflects an important urban development, which has its projection in the urbanizations, which are growing in a controlled way, in line with the health, cultural, sports and educational services that the town has, accommodating infrastructures and roads, more Endowment areas and green spaces, facilitating the connection with the urban area and making Bargas an attractive and comfortable place to live. Bargas is a dynamic town, with a varied offer of culture, education and sports, for all ages, accessible and very attractive.

Among the municipal services, in regards to the youth of Bargas, the City Council has a Youth Center that began to function in 2005, with the intention of providing a personalized service to the youth of Bargas aimed at the development of leisure activities , training and employment. There are different degrees of training and education within the youth sector of Bargas. The orientation program of the Youth Center seeks to satisfy the different needs of each of them, facilitating leisure formulas and active participation in the different activities that are developed, and in this way orienting them for their full integration into society. The Youth Center, in turn, provides the appropriate tools to guide them towards their professional future, both for those who are studying and for those without currently training. It is in this action plan of the Youth Center that the volunteers will carry out their service, motivating the local youth to take an interest in the provision of volunteer services in the locality and abroad. The number of people who begin to participate in activities developed by the Youth Center, as well as the development of new activities proposed by the volunteers will be one of the sources of verification of the impact of the project. In this way, volunteers will have the opportunity to integrate into the local community, at the same time that they will be able to develop their ideas and personal skills to help the local community and energize the youth.

Since 2018, Bargas has continuously had two European volunteers from different countries of the European Union. We have been collaborating hand in hand with the Kieu Project NGO, which acted as coordinating entity, looking for partners and coordinating the reception of the young people and the subsequent dispatch. We have also carried out a youth exchange with boys and girls from 14 to 17 years old. The City Council of Bargas with the start of European projects, we reinforce our commitment to the young people of the town, providing them with experiences and skills, through European projects.

Proyecto Kieu is an NGO focused on the local development of La Sagra (Toledo) in Spain. Since 2010, together with the youth of the area, they work to promote awareness, active participation, critical thinking and, ultimately, social development. During this time they have been forging different alliances with various municipalities in the area with the aim of multiplying the opportunities of the youth of the territory and providing new resources.

Bargas, has been since 2018 a municipality committed to this alliance with the young bargueños. Knowing that it is a learning experience in the field of non-formal education, in which young people improve or acquire skills for their personal, educational and professional development, as well as for their social integration.
