Opis organizácie

Tartu Environmental Education Centre (TEEC) is a community centre for nature education and sustainable development (since 2002).
Our mission is to motivate children, families and adults to think on the future of our Planet and behave responsible and sustainable way in everyday life.
Our main target groups are children, families and educators.
We operate in Tartu Nature House and it’s surrounding park area that is situated in Tartu City Centre.

TEEC consists of 4 divisions:
1. Tartu Nature School is a hobby school for children offering possibilities for hobbies on nature and environmental topics and organising nature camps.
2. Environmental Information Centre disseminates information about environmental issues and promotes sustainable lifestyle in multiple ways by organising community days, seminars, movie nights, workshops and other projects and events for publicity.
3. Adult Training Centre offers training courses for educators and others.
4. Nature education programs are very popular among school and kindergarten teachers. These programs perfectly complement our formal educational system with outdoor activities.

TEEC is kind of nature and culture hub that is involved in many collaborative projects including UNESCO Associated School Network (The Baltic Sea Project) and Green School movement. We are certified European Green Office and have an active Green Team of Employees to develop green solutions and promote environmental awareness. We have solar panels on the roof of our Nature House and we use rainwater for watering plants in our conservatory and there are other environmental friendly solutions and regulations to support sustainability. Therefore we are very interested to develop sustainability concept at schools and use hands-on possibilities to teach students and families. This way we can engage people to change their habits for sustainable future.

We are open for collaboration in multiple ways where activities are oriented to long-lasting impacts. We are very interested in new methods and innovative ways to share sustainable practices in different levels and sectors.
