The General Directorate of Youth and Volunteering Participation is the management body of the Ministry of Social Policy to which the following functions under the provisions of Law 6/2012, of June 19, the youth of Galicia:
- Management of the activities in the field of youth and youth policies of interdepartmental character and support the development of youth activity.
- The planing for youth, especially through the Strategic Plan for youth of Galicia, as well as coordination in the preparation, execution and evaluation of transversal policies of youth.
- The promotion of youth participation in social life, especially through youth associations and participation in the Advisory Council and Consultative Youth of Galicia.
- Coordination and oversight of facility youth operations, both typical of the Department as the dependent of the other entities and the provision of technical necessary assistance to give quality service.
- Promotion of youth mobility, both in the Autonomous Community of Galicia and the rest of the state and internationally.
- The monitoring in the management of the Galician Network of youth information ans its promotion and development, in the coordination with the information centres of the Central Government and the autonomous communities, ensuring the provision of an innovate service and quality.
- Coordination of the functions of information and documentation services of the Galician Network of youth information and the coordination service in the Galician Network of youth centres, youth space.
- The direction and management of the activities in the field of volunteering, the preparation and monitoring of planing tools, registration, management of organizations of any actions in the application of law 10/20111 Galicia, on November 28, voluntary action.
- Preparation of the draft budget and the memory operation corresponding to the body, as well as its management, monitoring and evaluation.
