Deskrizzjoni tal-Organizzazzjoni

Europa Grande is a non-profit association founded in 2001 with the mission of promoting European Union enlargement in order to achieve an ever closer union amongst the peoples of Europe. The main idea behind this was that expanding the customs union could increase the benefits of trade creation while reducing the costs of trade diversion.

When it was created, the EU had 15 member states, a number which has almost doubled ever since. The EU has also signed association and trade agreements with many important nations and trading blocs around the world, and is constantly negotiating new ones. The EU is also increasing its international presence in the framework of its Common Foreign and Security Policy.

Europa Grande currently understands enlargement in a broad sense, including not only the enlargement of EU membership, but also EU neighbourhood policy, external trade policy, development policy, common foreign and security policy, and any other EU policies that can expand the global reach of the European Union to the benefit of its citizens.

The association is officially registered since Novermber 2001 by the National Registry of Associations of the Spanish ministry of the interior under the category of "arts, humanities and social sciences". Its regular activities include the sponsorship of teaching, debate and research activities, such as public lectures, summer courses, open online courses, scientific meetings, academic publications, and volunteering outreach activities.

The Global Outreach Commission is the global outreach initiative of Europa Grande and the partners of the EUROSCI Network. As part of this initiative, we make EUROSCI Network courses available to students in communities beyond the current sphere of influence of the EUROSCI Network.

Courses offered under the Global Outreach Commission are recognised by partner institutions, and meet the same quality standards as any EUROSCI Network courses. They also train participants in the use of new information and communication technologies, and allow them to interact with university students and academics from different educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Volunteers taking part in this initiative have a clear vocation to give back to society by making a difference in the lives of students, academics, and the communities they live in. If you have taken one of our courses, already have a degree, or are about to graduate, and would like to take part in this live-changing experience, please do not hesitate to contact us.
