Caritas is practice of charity based on Christian belief. The goal of our organisation is to protect the dignity of human beings, to promote solidarity in a pluralistic society and to advocate for a life in freedom, justice and peace. We do this as single persons, as Christian communities and parishes and as Caritas organisation. Caritas helps to build and develop structures in society and communities.
Our organisation is a member of the umbrella organisation Landes-Caritasverband Bayern and Deutscher Caritasverband and belongs to the group of non-statutory welfare organisations in Germany. Seven Caritas organisations on the sub-regional level and 95 Caritas organisations on the local level belong to our organisation. The sub-regional and local Caritas organisations provide diverse social and charitable work in local communities. There are about 8.800 staff members in different services of Caritas and associated Catholic services. Their services are open to all people in need. These departments of our organisation provide close services to the people: Children/Youth/Family and People with Disabilities, Senior Services, Social Security and Integration, Gemeindecaritas and Questions of Principle. In addition about 5.500 persons are active in the different fields as volunteers: visiting and helping neighbours, immediate social assistance... About 13.000 indiviuals in the diocese support our organisation as members.
