Opis organizácie

Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan is one of ten study associations in Sweden. We offer study circles, cultural arrangements and other activities for peoples in their free time. We are a meeting place for creation, education and culture. Our target groups are people from 12 years of age up to a 100 years. We organize activities for and with them on their free time. The aim is to make knowledge and education accessible to all in a democratic and equal way, outside the traditional school world. The participants themselves control the content of their “Folk education” and the most common method is the study circle.

- Activities that contribute to strengthening and developing democracy
- Activities that contribute to enable an increased diversity of people to influence their life situation and create commitment to participate in the development of the society.
- Activities that contribute to bridging the education gap and raising the level of education and training in society
- Activities that contribute to broadening interest in and increasing participation in cultural life.

In county of Kronoberg we have 8 different offices. One of our offices is situated in Lessebo in the old Hand Paper Mill. We share the building with Bildningsbruket AB, a company owned by us. They produce paper using old methods and by hand, run a coffee shop and a camping close by. We offer exhibitions, study circles and cultural arrangements in this beautiful building. This place has a very old history as it started 1719 with paper production. (Before that it was an iron work.) The volunteers is supposed to work in this place and assist with exhibitions, guided tours, develop more interesting activities in connection to the building, the art and the handicraft as well as the history of the place. We would like the volunteer to run a Project by themselves with the goal to create contact in Europe and maybe also share experience between this place and other places in Europe.

In Växjö we have our newly acquired dance school, Dansstudion Preparandum. The studio has been active for 28 year, and all the classes are lead by professional dances and educators. They have a diverse program that varies from beginners coursers up to advanced in many different dance styles.
