Community Action & Regenerative Agriculture and Beekeeping in Togo

Opis

This volunteer project supports rural communities in Agomé-Yoh and Danyi-Apéyémé through women’s empowerment, regenerative farming and sustainable local development. Volunteers will work directly with a local women’s cooperative, active since 2021 and entirely run and managed by women. Activities include supporting regenerative agriculture and permaculture practices, beekeeping, crop and soil management, practical farm work, and small-scale entrepreneurship linked to local products. Volunteers will help prepare and deliver training sessions, support cooperative planning and organisation, and contribute to activities that strengthen women’s skills and income opportunities. The project also includes WASH and public-health activities in schools and community spaces. Volunteers will work alongside AJEVES staff, cooperative members and local stakeholders. Working hours are generally 8:00–11:00 and 15:30–18:30, with flexibility to adapt to community needs.

Ubytovanie, strava a doprava

Volunteers are hosted in safe shared flats. Single rooms may be available for individual volunteers. Basic amenities include electricity, running water, and internet (wi-fi and SIM). Meals are provided, and dietary requirements can be shared in advance. The diet is fresh, local, healthy and balanced. Activities are mostly within walking distance; when needed, AJEVES will arrange local transport (taxis & moto-taxis, helmets provided). Activities include cultural visits, traditional events, local market trips. Volunteers will also have the chance to enjoy the very beautiful natural surroundings.

Odborná príprava počas činnosti

AJEVES offers an orientation on local culture, safety, and community expectations. Volunteers receive introductory training on key project topics such as health & sanitation, regenerative agriculture, and beekeeping, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. Training typically lasts 10 days to 2 weeks. Throughout the placement, AJEVES staff mentor volunteers to ensure they feel supported and prepared. Free psychosocial support at the local hospital is available throughout the stay. AJEVES also organizes stakeholder visits to strengthen collaboration and ensure long-term impact.
