B.3 How do I know if my application is successful or if I am on the reserve list?

You can check the status of your application on the European Youth Portal. Please keep a copy of your DiscoverEU application code. Do not share it (e.g. on social media) except with the authorised contractor designated by the European Commission and EACEA. In addition, when the evaluation process will be completed, applicants will receive an email notification. It is important that you can be reached via the email you indicated in your application.

A.10 What is expected from me as participant?

The European Commission would like to hear back from the young travellers and encourages them to share their experiences and adventures. That is why all participants may become DiscoverEU Ambassadors. They are invited to share their travel experiences through social media tools or by providing a presentation at their school or their local community. Participants are welcome to join the #DiscoverEU official Facebook Group.

A.9 Is there an identity or residence verification if I am awarded a travel pass??

Yes. When filling in the booking form, you will be asked to upload an image of a valid ID document (passport, national ID card or residence card), or to take a picture with your device’s camera.

A valid proof of residence might also be requested. Please note that only official documentation from the national authority of your residence will be accepted. Exceptionally, in duly justified cases, other supporting documents such as electricity bills or rental leases may be accepted.

A.8 I am waiting for my new passport, identity card (ID) or residence card when I apply. How should I proceed?

When you apply, you can use your current passport, identity card (ID) or residence card, even if it has expired. However, should you be awarded a travel pass and discount card, you will need to be in possession of a valid ID document (passport, national ID or residence card) when completing the booking form to request your travel pass as an ID verification process has been put in place by the contractor. Also, you will need a valid ID document when travelling.
