The safety and security under the European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps will be guaranteed at three levels so that under no circumstance the volunteers will be put in harm's way: the three levels are the European Solidarity Corps Regulation, the quality measures organisations signed up to and the thorough preparation of the volunteers for their deployment.
- As provided for in the Regulation, no deployments can occur in countries with ongoing armed conflicts.
- For the organisations, the Quality Label, while simpler than the accreditation under the previous EU Aid Volunteer Initiative, has very strict provisions regarding the ability to manage safety and security of volunteers, and will only be granted to those organisations assessed to be able to provide convincing assurances in this regard.
- Furthermore, for the volunteers, the specific training for the European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps is of high quality, with a strong focus on safety and security to enable volunteers to react in unlikely dangerous situations and remain safe.
