EU Youth Strategy

The EU developed an EU Youth Strategy and wants young people to engage and become an active citizen involved in democracy and society. We want young people to tell us what is important to them by taking part in the EU Youth Dialogue.

Mutual Learning and Expert Groups

Mutual learning between Member States, the European Commission and relevant stakeholders is ideal for the advancement of youth policy with regard to both core and cross-sectoral areas.

Besides Expert Groups, which can develop policy guidance, practical tools and can share good practices, the EU youth strategy 2019-2027 also offers new ways of mutual learning, such as peer reviews and peer counselling, high-level forums, analysis and studies. Thereby, the priorities of the EU Youth Strategy are followed up as well as through Work Plans for three years.

Under the EU Work plan for Youth 2019-2021, the following activities are indicatively planned:

  • Expert group on indicators;
  • Expert group on cross-border solidarity;
  • Peer-learning activity on cross-sectoral approaches in youth work;
  • Study to propose a toolkit on youth policies reaching grassroots level;
  • Expert group on a rights-based approach to youth policies;
  • Peer-learning activity on multi-level governance and participation;
  • Peer-learning exercise on digital youth work;
  • Peer-learning activities on national solidarity activities;
  • Peer-learning activity on innovative ways of financing youth work.
