El Servicio Voluntario Europeo celebra sus 20 años


El Servicio Voluntario Europeo ofrece a los jóvenes la oportunidad de realizar actividades de voluntariado en el extranjero y de ese modo contribuir a una causa en la que crean. Pueden ser labores solidarias con refugiados y migrantes, actividades relacionadas con el medio ambiente, actividades para niños o personas mayores, apoyo a organizaciones no gubernamentales, trabajos en acontecimientos culturales o muchas otras cosas. Para participar solo hace falta tener entre 17 y 30 años. Todos los voluntarios reciben ayuda para gastos de transporte y alojamiento, además de seguros y dinero para gastos personales.

Las organizaciones pueden recibir ayuda financiera para desarrollar un proyecto en cuyas actividades colabore un voluntario internacional. Los voluntarios del SVE pueden aportar su entusiasmo, esfuerzo y formación y añadir una verdadera dimensión internacional y estimulante al entorno de la organización.

Mina, una joven refugiada que vive ahora en Dinamarca, cuenta su experiencia de voluntariado en Bruselas a través del Servicio Voluntario Europeo y explica cómo utiliza sus propias vivencias para ayudar a otros refugiados.

In March 2007, Victor Serrato Martín boarded a flight from sunny Malaga and touched down in a snowy Czech Republic, unaware of how profound an effect EVS would have on his life. He grew close to the people he supported, and embraced the challenge of working amongst people with a high level of need.

Taking part in a European Voluntary Service project changed the career path of Katarzyna Bialkowska. Now, ten years after her volunteering placement, she is head of a Polish organisation running intercultural and multilingual education programmes – and she credits it all to her EVS experience.

Stories from volunteers – Fresh start with European Voluntary Service


Calum Barron came from a disadvantaged background but volunteering for a European Voluntary Service project made him feel there were more options open to him than before. Following his EVS projects, Calum went on to lead several projects in Wales and he now has an apprenticeship. He also volunteers in a homeless shelter.
