Dayana in action

Hi, I'm Dayana, I have done my CES volunteering with Intercambia Youth Association, it has been an intense year where I have learned a lot. Here is my experience 😊.

When I finally received the decision to be selected as a ESC volunteer, I didn't know that this year was going to be one of the best experiences I've ever had. Because beyond colleagues I have taken a family with me. I remember when they explained to me how to manage the groups, all the details that had to be taken into account, all the procedures from the moment the children were selected, when they went to a Youth Exchange project or a training course and when they returned to Malaga. Little by little I got into the synergy, I went from managing one group of children to 3 or 4 groups depending on the month. With each group I was learning, solving problems and creating new experiences for the next group. Interacting with young people, meeting them in hobbies or simply learning from their experiences was fun and diverse. Another task was the creation of videos to explain what the European Solidarity Corps, Youth Exchanges and Training Courses were all about or to have a visual and photographic memory of activities we did from Intercambia. I have to say that producing videos, uploading content to WordPress and helping with Instagram content were some of my favourite parts, as having studied everything related to corporate communication, how could I not enjoy it. Then came the sports volunteering and learning how to manage and coordinate volunteers and organise an event where the competition system matched the hours available. Then came supporting the University of Malaga with their sporting events, getting to know people and gaining new experiences. All in all it has been a year that has flown by where I have grown as a person and I am grateful to have shared my time with each of the members of Intercambia and with other volunteers who, like me, did their volunteering period there.

My advice if you have the opportunity to volunteer with ESC don't hesitate to do it, because you will learn and enjoy the experience.
